NOTE

We would like to highlight that the weather is extremely variable, it can change from hot to cold and humid.

  1. DAY 1 CUSCO-CACHORA-CAPULLIYOY- CHIKISKA SANTA ROSA

    We leave Cusco very early 5 am, and then drive around 4 hours to Cachora, a short stop for breakfast and then continue to Capulliyoc, where we will meet our horsemen (expedition support crew), then we start the hike, it is a 4 hours downhill hike to reach our lunch spot at Chikisca village,along  the way we have spectacular views of the Apurimac valley,as well as snow-capped mountains like: Padreyoc, Wayna Cachora, after lunch we continue the hike to the button of the canyon, here we will see the magnificent Apurimac river, famous for 5 class rafting rapids, then we continue around 2 more hour a bit up to reach our campsite at Santa Rosa(1,800 m/5,905 ft).

  2. DAY 2 SANTA ROSA- MARANPATA- CHOQUEQUIRAO

    After an early breakfast we will hike up around 2 hours to reach Maranpata (2,900 m/9,514 ft) this part of the trek has many zigzags, once we get to the top you will have fantastic views of the area, and from this area we have the first view of Choquequirao, also snow- capped mountains, after that w walk another 2 hours kind of easy one to reach our campsite at Choquequirao (3050 m/10,026 ft). Here we will have our lunch and in the afternoon we will visit this amazing place and you will have a guided tour,visiting the most important areas like: religious observatory , farming terraces and the Llama terraces, also we can enjoy a nice sunset.

  3. DAY 3 CHOQUEQUIRAO PASS- PICHAWNIYOC- RIO BLANCO- MAIZAL

    After having an early we start our hike , the first part is going to be a uphill around 45 minutes to reach the Choquequirao pass (3,500 m/11,483 ft), from this spot we can the lush vegetation which is home of many local flowers and orchids, after that we walk around 30 minutes kid of flat before going down for around 2 hours to reach  the Incan site called Pinchauniyoc, this was an agricultural center and resting place for travellers connecting the low jungle, after visiting this beautiful place we keep going down another 2 hours to reach Rio Blanco ( 1, 750 m/5,742 ft) where we will have lunch, after lunch we continue our journey, we will walk around 4 hours mostly uphill to reach our campsite at Maizal ( 3,000 m/9,843 ft).

  4. DAY 4 MAIZAL- MINAS VICTORIA- CONDOR PASS- YANAMA

    After enjoying a magical sunrise and a tasty breakfast we will start another nice day, after a 4 hours hike mostly uphill we will reach the second highest point of our trek (4,200 m/13,780 ft), where we will have some snacks  and our box lunch while we enjoy spectacular views of snow- capped peaks, amazing valleys and perhaps some Andean condors, after this beautiful moment,we will keep walking down for 3.5 hours to  reach our campsite in Yanama village( 3,800 m/12,468 ft) a small village with ancient traditions and local people where we can share some moments if time permits.

  5. DAY 5 YANAMA- LLAMOCA PASS- TOTORA

    This day we will reach our highest point, we climb up the famous Vilcabamba mountain range, after around 5 hours we will get to the Llamoca pass located at (4,500 m/14,765 ft),Where one can appreciate great views while enjoying the box lunch, then we will keep moving to reach our campsite, on the way we will see the famous Salkantay and Humantay mountains, it will be around 5 hours until we reach the campsite , the paths they sometimes  are slippery or dusty and rocky it depends on the season, but along the way we may see some Andean birds, eagles, hawks, condors and maybe the Andean bear. finally reaching our campsite called Totora( 3,500 m/11,464 ft)

  6. DAY 6 TOTORA- COLLPAPAMPA- LUCMABAMBA

    This day we will have a relatively easy day, 3 hours down hill to Ccollpapampa, where our Choquequirao trek joins to the Salkantay trek trail,also in this place we will have our lunch and say good bye the horsemen, after lunch we continue our hike, along the way we will see waterfalls, Passion fruit plantations, Banana and Coffee plantations as well, finally reaching our campsite called Lucmabamba( 2,000 m/6,600 ft).

    Walking time: 9 hours

  7. DAY 7 LUCMABAMBA- LLACTAPATA- AGUAS CALIENTES

    Today we are going to enjoy some local coffee on the way and some fruit plantations like passion fruit and avocados, this day we will be hiking on a original Inca trail and this day will be our last hiking day, we wil gently go up around 3 hours to reach an Incan site called Llactapata, from where will a have a distant view of Machupicchu and all the surrounding mountain ranges and valleys, after that we keep going down for another 3 hours to reach Hidroelectrica village where we will have our lunch, in this place we wil say god bye our chef, after that we will take the train( 45 minutes) to Aguas Calientes town( 2,000 m/6,567 ft).

    Walking distance: 12 km/7.5 miles

    Walking time: 6 hours

  8. DAY 8 MACHUPICCHU-OLLANTAYTAMBOCUSCO

    Our main day ,we will start early having a breakfast in the hotel,then we will catch the first buses to go to the citadel, we recommend to start early in order to enjoy the sunrise,in 30 minutes time buy bus we will be at the entrance of Mchupicchu( 2,400 m/7,876 ft), then we will climb a little bit to the main spot to take the famous postal pictures,after that your tour guide will give  you a guided tour around 3 hours to learn and explore this magical place ,then you will have some free time to walk around and explore more by your own. After that you will get back to Aguas calientes for lunch or simply realax and enjoy the afternoon, then we will take our train back to Ollantaytambo, where our driver will be waiting for you to go back to Cusco city.

    NOTE: For this last day,some people could request some extra hike around Machupicchu like: Huaynapicchu mountain or Machupicchu mountain. We suggest to book in advance if it is that the case because of limited number of hikers per day.
