We will leave the hotel at 6 am and go to the Inca side of Tambomachay just outside Cusco. Our path will lead us over high passes, beautiful valleys, small villages and spectaculat mountain lakes. Our goal for today is the village of Pukamarca, a traditional village located in the highlands of the sacred valley.
Today we will learn about the local people and visit the Inca side of Huchuy Qosqo. Huchuy Qosqo (“Little Cuzco”) is a noteworthy Inca complex. It boasts very fine stonework in a large Kallanka (rectangular Hall), some residential and defensive quarters and interesting two-story buildings in stone and adobe. Huchuy Qosqo is located on a plateau, surrounded by Inca agricultural terracing and commanding superb views of the Vilcabamba range. Afterwards we’ll go down hill to Lamay at 2900m where we’ll catch our transport driving to Ollantaytambo. Ollantaytambo is the place where we’ll continue by train to Aguas Calientes town.
We will be leaving our hotel early in the morning and we will take the bus to the Inca Citadel. Our guide will offer you a guided visit of about 2 hours and after this you will have time to visit Machu Picchu and maybe Wayna Picchu (optional, to be reserved in advance) at your own pace. Tourist buses will offer you the descent back to Aguas Calientes, from where we will take the train to Ollantaytambo, where our bus awaits you to continue to Cusco.
