The Vilcanota Cordillera is an impressive string of mountains that includes the massif of Mount Ausangate (6385 m) and 3 other peaks above 6000 meters.
This is a great playground for trekking, which offers all lovers of walking the opportunity to dream: a spectacular mountain landscape, snowy peaks, hot springs, turquoise Lakes, glaciers, herds of llamas and alpacas, picturesque villages populated of authentic descendants of the Inca people, dressed in their colorful traditional clothes, who knew how to preserve the respect for the mountain and its surroundings which gives them everything they have been had over the years, things needed to live and achieve their toil of farmers and shepherds of llamas and alpacas.
In the Andean cosmovision, the Ausangate is the most important sacred mountain around Cusco and the Altiplano. This is why it gives the name of Apu Ausangate (APU is the name given to the sacred in the Andean mountains).

We will leave Cusco early in the morning at 6 am by private transport. On our way to Tinqui (approx. 2.5 hrs) we will pass little farms and enjoy the beautiful landscape. In Tinqui we will change our transport and ride motorcycles for approx. 45 min up to a place called Reservorio. Here we are going to start our trek. This lovely adventure will last around 5 hours. This region around the mountain offers impressive scenery of mountains, glaciers, lagoons and streams. Furthermore, the Andean people are very hospitable and preserve the respect for nature. The farmers have excellent knowledge in the raising of cattle such as the vicuña, the alpaca and the lama, which are all appreciated for their fine quality of wool and meat. Our trek will end in a local village called Pacchanta where you can enjoy the hot springs. Return to Cusco around 6.30pm.
